ABOUT SALEM

Salem, Missouri is a peaceful, rural community. Salem has a population of 4,500 while the population of Dent County is 14,010. Located on the Ozark Plateau just north of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Salem is an area that has clean, fresh air and is the site of numerous pristine springs, rivers and lakes. There are 4 seasons, with an average mean temperature of 75.5 F in the summer and 34.5 F in the winter. The principal agricultural products are beef and hay. Land prices are reasonable and the tax rates are some of the lowest in the nation. Opportunities are abound for hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Our schools are highly rated, rime rates are very low and good clean country living is prevalent.

SCHOOLS
The High School is AAA rated with A-plus recognition. There is one junior high, 1 upper elementary and one lower elementary school all of which are AAA rated. There 4 complete Elementary schools, grades 1-8 in the County.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
Classes are offered by the University of Missouri Extension Division. Rolla Technical and the University of Missouri-Rolla are only a 30 minute drive from Salem.
